RE-OPENING OF THE GERMAN CHURCH.

Since the retirement of the llsv H. Lohr, .this Church has been virtually closed for [worship in the Gorman language, but has {been occupied by the Bible Christians up to /the present time. The Church authorities, in /refilling tho position, decided to try and [procure, if possible, a Minister of colonial experience, and have succeeded in securing the services of the Bov H. Jacobson (a native of Sehleswig-Holstein), who has ministered to German congregations in Victoria for tho last 1«1 years. His formal installation will take placo on Sunday next, at the morning service, commencing at 11 a.m., after which I the usual regular services will bo continued. The rev gentleman intends, also, if desirable, to hold occasional services in the English and Scandinavian languages ; the latter he acquired in his native country, being formerly under the Danish government. It is also decided in order to clear off a debt contracted in payiing tho Rev Mr Lohr his retiring allowance, hold a gift auction during this month, when all Germans and others interested in ■the welfare of this church are called upon to • contribute in goods and kind according to their several vocations and ability.
