Twelve thousand shares in the National Insurance Company have been applied for. Dunedin, Sept. 5. A public meeting, in reference to' the building of workshops for the railway at Mussel Bay, carried a resolution to the effect that the place was quite unsuitable, and that the buildings would have to be removed in a few yearsto Dunedin. A protest on behalf of thecitizens was forwarded to the Premier and Otago members. Wheat is quiet at 5s 3d to 5s 6d ; oats arein demand at 4s to 4s 6d, and stocks nearly out j: barley is quoted at 7s, and dull; flour is in good inquiry at £12 10s to £13; oatmeal, £24 j: pearl bax'ley, £31 ; bran, stocks are low, ab £4 10s.
