sSThe Star Office, This Day. Mr James Caird has published an estimate of the English harvest, according to which the yield of wheat has been nearly equal to that of 1864, but is not of so good a quality a3 that of 18G3. The yield has been at the rate of 32 bushels per acre, or five above the yearly average. Mr Caird anticipates that England will pay £ : 5,000,000 less for foreign wheat than last year, but there ia a deficiency of £10,000,000 in barley and oats, while the hay aud green crops were nearly annihilated by the protracted drought. In the growth of potatoes there ia an increase of 80,000 acres, and the crop will be of an average character.
The Russian Correspondence gives a general sketch of this year's production of corn in that country. The districts through which the Wolga flows; especially those towards the middle of its course, have had an excellent crop ; the same is the case on the shores of the sea of Azoff, which will he able to supply large quantities of wheat for \ export. The governmants or provinces of the centre and west are not so well off ; the former region suffered from drought, while in the latter torrents of rain laid the wheat over a very great extent of country. The districts adjacent to the ports of Odessa and Nicolaieff have had but half a crop, which, considering tha fall in prices, will hardly remunerate the grower. " Upon the whole, it may be said that there will be enough to eat, but not much can be laid by for the future.
