The Star Office, This Day. | ; The land sales to-day amounted to 102 acres, as follows: — Timaru district, 50 acres; Oxford, 50; Ashburton, 52. ; T. Preece reports a brisk demand for pigs and poultry, &c, at his saleyards, on Saturday last, and prices obtained were considerably in advance of last quotations. Messrs Wilson and Alport report a steady sale for prime fat cattle and sheep; also, of good quality store cattle. ■ Dairy stock are not in much demand, unless very superior. On Wednesday, at the Carlton yards, 9 good, quiet two to three-year old steers brought £7 10s to £11 5s per head ; 28 station cows and steers brought £3 17s 6d to £5 15s. On '. Saturday, at Cashel street yards, dairy cows sold at £6 1 2s 6d to £7 2s 6d; heifers, good quality, £4 15s to .£6; yearling steers, £3 2a 6d; calves, 22s 6d to 30s; 1 bull, £7.
