POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANKS. The following are the regulations regarding the Post Office Savings Banks, which have been established at Chnstchurch, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi eimaru, Akaroa, Waimate, Hokitika, and Greyxaouth :— 1. Interest at 5 per cent, per annum is given on sums less than £200; at 4 per cent, per annum on sums over £200 and not exceeding £500; and hi the same proportion for any shorter tune on every complete £1 deposited; no interest is allowed on saore than £500. 2. Depositors in Post Office Savings' Ba ks have direct Government security for the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any Post Office Bank can continue his deposits at any other, and can withdraw his money at that most convenient to him. 4 The strictest secrecy is observed with respect to the names of depositors, and amounts of their -j deposits. Married women may deposit money in the Post Office Savings' Bank, and money so deposited nill be repaid to the depositor, unless her husband gives notice, in writing, of marriage, and claims payment of depoaifilQf 6. Money may be deposited by or on behalf or minors. Depositors over seven years ot age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits I until they have reached the age of seven. j 7. Applications to the Chief Offico in each ProTinea on the business of Post Office Savings' Banks, and the replies sent thereto, are free from charge for postage.

WHEN EXTRA CHARGES MAT BE LEVIED. Double the above fares may be charged after dark. For detention of boat for a period exceeding twenty minutes, an extra charge of 6d for every quarter-of-an-hour during which the boat shall be detained.
