The Cutter Charlotte arrived in harbour yesterday, having had to put hack on account of! the N.E. gale; she resumed her voyage thia morning. This Laughing Water Bailed for Melbourne tMH morning; the strong gale "which blew last nL'ht caused her to drag her anchor, and elic nearly fouled the barque Pet, who, to attract attention, burned blue lights. The pilot crew went off to render assistance, but tlicir services were fortunately not required. Tub American built schooner S. D. Bailey, Capt. Meikleham, arrived in harbour yesterday, from Havelock ; left on Sunday, the 20th inst., but owing to strong S. E. gale, did not get out of the Sound until Thursday laat -, had strong N. W. winds to the Ivaikonras ; thence light winds until Saturday night. She brings a cargo of timber, consigned to Mr C. C. Aikman.
Thb ketch Emerald arrived in harbour yesterday, from Havelock ; left on Sunday the 20th ; experienced fine weather to Waipapa Point ; here she encountered a southerly gale, and had to run into Port Underwood ; left on Thursday, and arrived as above. The p.s. Comerang, Capt. Maiiler, arrived I in harbour on -aturday, at 4 p.m., from Dunedin, via intermediate ports ; left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on Thursday, the 24th, with fresh N.E. gale ; arrived at Timaru at 10.30 a.m. on Friday, 25th ; discharged cargo and passengers, and left at 8 p.m. on the same day, arriving at Akaroa at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. The barque A. H. Badger arrived in harbour yesterday morning at daylight ; left Newcastle on the 3rd inst, and experienced southerly winds ; made Cape Egmont on the 14th ; since then had a succession of S.E. gales ; passed through the ! Straits on the 25th, and had a moderate breeze from the westward until arrival ; spoke the schooner Falcon in Cook Straits. he A. H. Badger brings a cargo of coalß consigned to Messrs Brownell. The s.s. Wellington, Captain Holmes, arrived in harboar yesterday, at 5.30 a.m. from Wellington. Left Auckland at 3.30 p.m. on Monday the 21st inst, experienced a strong S.E. gale, and had to put back from the East Cape to Kawa Kawa roadstead, where she lay for 16 hours; arrived at Napier at midnight on the 23rd, and left at 1.45 p.m. on Thursday, and arrived in Wellington at 9.30, on Friday; left at 1.30 on Saturday, and arrived as above. Fine weather was experienced during the passage. We are obliged to Mr Moss for files. The Wellington sailed for Dunedin yesterday at 2 p.m.
