VBreach of thu Weights and Measures Act.- -Henry Knight of the Caledonian road was charged with having ajspring balance in

his possession. Mr Brunsden, Inspector of weights and measures, said he saw prisoner's cart in the street, and the back part being optn observed the balance produced. It was not concealed in any way. Defendant admitted the offence, but pleaded in extenuation that having accidentally broken one pair of his scales he had merely got the spring balance until such time as they were repaired. His Worship said it was sufficient to know that the balance had been found in his possession, and he would be fined 20s.
