[BY SUBMAUr.iTE TELEGRAPH.] Wej-MWuto-jt, Sept. 22, 7.4*4 p.ra. Only small bills, principally of a legal character, were disposed of in the House of this afternoon. The debate on tho " alarm " resolution is being continued this evening, and it is hoped that it will terminate to-morrow night. The division will be very close, but it is impossible to say on which side the majority will be. Mete Ki.igi, who had promised Mr McLean to vote for his resolution, went by yesterday's early morning coach to Wanganui ; it io said on official or semi-official business. There was a Govcrmneut caucus held to-day. There is great uneasiness in that party, the Government having j intimated at Saturday's caucus that it was found impossible to carry out their proposed adjustment (i.e. compensation to provinces) this year. Air J. O'Neill has given notice that the compact of 1856 must be considered as at an end. Be is regarded as acting " under orders," with a view to draw the Opposition. There is nothing new from the Front.
