ARRIVED. Sept. 18 — Gazelle, s.s., McLellan, from lyttelton. IX RIVEB. Gazelle, s.s.; Rose of Eden and Streamlet, schooners; Elizabeth and Annie, ketches.
•v Tns Great Ocean Race. — •• The ocean Derby " of this year promises to be unusually excited, on account of the number of firsteJasa clippers competing. In the race from Foochoo five vessels ar© engaged, and so free .tan interest is taken in it that a mercantile circular received by this mail gives the lours and minutes of their departure for -London. The Sir Launcelot and Ariel cast off. their steamers simultaneously, at 2.20 §>.__. on May 28th, the Sir Launcelot being tfean three-quarters of a mile a-head. The T-dping got to sea at 6 p.m. on the same day, aaid was followed next morning by the Spin<_r_ft. The Lah-100 left at 3.30 p.m. on the same day. The race down the China sea appears to have been very close, and so far • in favour of the Taiping, which passed Angier co the morning of June 22, followed by the SirLauncelot, Relted Will (from Canton May 27,) and Ariel, in the order named. The __ah-100 passed early next day ; the Spindrift was not reported up to the 25th. From Shanghai six ships have started — the Forward Ho . and Nim on June 1 ; Taitsing, Titania. and Leander, on the 13th, and the Eliza Shaw on the 16th. 1 ■"»■*,•>< < —
