VALEDICTORY

MR AND MRS A. F. ATTWOOD

On Tuesday evening, 4th April, tr? the Methodist Church, a farewell was rendered to Mr and Mrs Att- ' wood who left last week for Opotiki. A very large number of members and friends were present, the seating accommodation being overtaxed. Competitions and games were held and items were rendered by Miss Brough. Miss Ida Diprose, Mrs Darvill, and Mr Les Shepherd. Mrs Hansen on behalf of the Ladies Guild presented Mrs Attwood with a hand bag, as a small token of the esteem in which Mrs Attwood was held. The Guild members had found in her not merely a willing helper in all their activities, but a friend whom they were sorry to lose. Gifts were also given to Olive and Arthur Attwood. Mr Mundt in presenting Mr Attwood with a cheque, said it was a small appreciation from members ■of the Church and friends. So far as % was aware their was no one connected with the Church who

was not sincerely sorry that Mr Attwood was leaving. He wished .'•Mr and Mrs Attwood every success in their future. Other speakers were Rev. McCaw, Messrs Shepherd and Darvill. Both Mr and Mrs Attwood responded. A happy little funtion had previously taken place in the church grounds, when a Sunday School party had been held, and parting gifts presented to Olive and Arthur Atwood, and Maureen Sharp who also has left the district. Gifts were also made to Mr and Mrs Attwood.
