Tonic Water. Never throw away orange, lemon, or cucumber peel, as these make an excellent tonic for the skin. Put them to soak in your water jug, they will soften the water and act .as a splendid tonic to freshen the complexion and give firmness to the flesh. •* » * For the Skin. For early wrinkles bathe freely with cold water, to which add a few drops of simple tincture of benzoin. Enlarged pores will also be benefited by bathing daily with cold water, to which add a pinch of alum, or a few drops of simple tincture of benzoin. « • • For the Neck. To whiten a neck,, discolored through wearing black next the skin, bathe well with warm water, then use plenty of soap, which well rub in, rinse off thoroughly, arid dry skin. Now use a little lemon juice, which friction well into the darkened skin. * * * Natural Perfumes. Perfumes and sweet-smelling plants are good for health and beauty; for instance, lavender, violets, wallflowers, mignonette, sweetbriar, lemon plant, rosemary, mint, and sage are all health-giving plants, and especially is sage good, it gives health, strength, and beauty. * * * Sachets. Sachets of sweet health-giving perfumes should be placed in your wardrobe, and with your clothing; in fact, tiny sachets can be worn with good result ; for scent wards off contagious diseases. Lavender water and perfumes of roses or rosemary, sweetbriar, and violets, are all health and beauty giving scents.
