Once again the ancient and popular game of bowls is in full swing on the mountain greens, and everything points to a highly-successful and enjoyable season. An exceptionally large number of uew members have been (enrolled on the club's books, and the club has been strengthened by the return to its ranks of quite a number of old members, who, by removal from the district and various reasons, had relinquished membership. Included in this number are Messrs. H. Rankin, J. Fernandez, A. Walker, H. Tattersall, J. Hooker, J. Rendell, sen., the wee McDougall, and that astute general, Frank Saxton. Mr. Geo. Very large entries have been received for the Club Competitions, and again the members are requested to pay attention to the time announced as the limit for the various rounds. The time-table must be adhered to, otherwise it will be impossible' to finish within the season. A new innovation this season is the President's and Vice-Presidents' Fours.. In the latter fixture the thirds in the Presidents' slap, while the skips play third. Great interest is being taken in this competition, and already the first rounds in each have been played.
