HOCKEY.

The recent dispute by the Canterbury Hockey Association has advanced another stage, with the result, as generally expected, the New Zealand Association has requested Canterbury to withdraw the insulting resolutions passed on Mr. Kent, on© of the referees of the recent Shield match. The older members of Canterbury hockey have 'expressed much bitterness at the Association's actions, and the veteran, Mr. Snell, aptly sums up the situation in saying the resolutions were passed by a "few hot-head.s."

The one remaining resolution, that two outside referees be appointed for all Shield matches is by no means a new proposition. It is hoped, however, if ways and means can be met, that such appointments will be made.
