" Are you there ?" " Is that you, Mrs Patriotic 1" "Yes. Good morning Mrs As-you-were." " Can you come in to lunch with me on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this week ?" " I am sorry, but I cannot possibly. You see I am busy baking cakes, scones, sweets, etc., for 'PADDY'S MARKET.' Then I have some children's garments and knitting to finish and must, hunt up some jams and pickles from my household stock, also see what furniture and crockery I can dispose of for the benefit of our boys. Every minute is filled." " Well, what about Friday, Saturday or Monday 1" " Oh ! those are the days ' PADDY'S MARKET' is on and I am going with different friends each day. A season ticket only co-ts Is. lam going to have a rest next week so I will prepare for it by buying a stock of cakes, etc., to save me cooking at home. I think I will have to buy a few jams and pickles to last out, too. It is nice to have a different variety from one's own. The goods st 11----ing at 'PADDY'S MARKET' are all home-made and there are some lovely cooks on the A.W.P.L." "Oh! Well, I think I must come to this wonderful 'PADDY'S MARKET' to be in the swim. How is Mr. Patriotic 1" " Quite well. He is just as much interested in ' PADDY'S MARKET 'as I am. He is now getting some vegetables together and has made some wonderful household helps from kerosene tins and soap boxes. He expects to come to ' PADDY'S MARKET,' as a Knife and Fork Tea is provided for business men from 5.30 to 6.80 every day lam getting him to buy in a host of flowers. Ido like the house bright for the week-end, and some plants for my little conservatory." " How are the children ?" " Oh ! the chi dren are first-class and looking forward to Saturday afternoon when there is Matinee for ' PADDY'S MARKET ' for the children. They have been doing all they can at the school, and are quite enthusiastic. Their daddy has promised to bring home some toys, etc., from ' PADDY'S MARKET.' We are all going to buy some ' Fairings' at Is each. It will be great fun." " Well, I will certainly try to come and bring some friends with me." " Do, and don't forget that the main thing about' PADDY'S MARKET' is that EVERY PENNY WILL GO TO HELP OUR BOYS. It will be opened on FRIDAY at 3 o'clock by the Mayoress, Mrs J. H. Gunson, who is President of the League."
