THE APRON DE LUXE.

Lady Alexander was one of the first of the London war workers to appear at a bazaar wearing a dainty apron. Since then the apron has become übiquitous where there is work to be done, but it is essentially an apron de luxe of the finest handkerchief linen or lace, with a ribbon band at the waist and coquettish little bows on the pockets. One I saw the other day was of sheer white muslin, and scattered over it were tiny nosegays of little bright coloured wool flowers. Another was of Chinese blue silk trimmed with cream lace, and a waistband of blue and silver ribbon.

BOOT AND SHOE PROBLEMS. I think the question of where to put one's boots and shoes has always been a troublesome one. The most satisfactory solution of the problem one I saw in a friend's dressing room the other day. It looks like a Lilliputian bookcase and is of wood painted white to match the furniture of rose and white. It has four skeleton shelves and is curtained in rose silk on its four sides; these curtains are shirred over slender metal rods, and only one of them hangs loose, so that the shoes can be reached from that side. ® ® @> RASPBERRY BUNS. Take two cups of flour, half cup of sugar, half cup of butter or good dripping, two eggs, one teaspoon of baking powder; rub in the butter, and mix into a firm paste with the well beatt» eggs and milk. Roll, out thin, cut into circles, into the centre of each pat a teaspoonful of. raspberry jam. Turn the paste up round it, then turn over, so that the smooth aide is uppermost. Make a cross very carefully on the top, and bake in a moderate oven.

Additional power is given a newgas enginjß by turning the ,exhaust into one of the fly wheels, which is enclosed to form a turbine.
