The Hibernian Society's sports and Art Union, in the Domain Cricket ground on "Wednesday next, offer great attraction to the citizens who intend to devote themselves to recreation on St Patrick's Day (Wednesday next). A capital programme of sports has been compiled, the entries are large, and the Art Union prizes embrace a piano, bicycle, suite of furniture, and a Jady's gold watch, besides fully a hundred others. Those who prefer a country excursion and first-class aquatic sports together with Maori war dances and lots of fun, will not resist the fascinations of the Ngaruawahia regatta, while the patrons of the turf are sure to gravitate to Avondale for the Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting.
