CAMBRIDGE.
The late fire has sadly marred the aspect of our pretty little town. Wide-spread sympathy is felt for Mr Popple in the severe loss he has sustained. The name of one person in the mention of others in the daily papers seems to have been overlooked. This person, although a partial cripple, sat on the edge of Mr Nixon's verandah all through the most intense heat and performed yeoman ser vice. I allude to Mr Johansen.. Considerable dissatisfaction has been expressed by the subscribers re library matters. The prevailing opinion seems to be that the present chairman should vacate his position.. Rumour hath it that we are to lose the jolie and petite Miss H, and that she is also about to change her name. We wish her very happiness . Our Harry has indeed left us. They say the charming Miss G-, from the west side, is pining in consequence Never mind, P; he will not forget you, and some day he will return even as J T to MB, ' When the customers seize their balances And ihe baukers are all sacked.'
