MOUNT EDEN
This correspondent writes: — Greetings - to you, Mr Editor, this Christmas week. Christmas comes but once a year, and when it comes it brings good cheer ; but the Observer it comes every week, and when it <jomes it gladdens our hearts and makes us forpet that life is but short and such a constant fight. Promoters of picnics are busy at present, and everybody is on the look out for invites. One pionic to be held on Boxing Day is known as the Brown Paper Picnic, on account of the ladies developing a craze ' for sendinsr out invitations written on brown paper. We had a wedding here a fortnight ago, and when the interested parties arrived at the church, the parson was found to be absent, and was found quietly reading on his verandah, having forgotten all about the auspicious event ; however, things came round all rierht, aud love had its way. We all wish you a Merry Christmas now, Mr Editor, and hope you will give us as much fun before the next one comes round, as you have given us this year.
