This Company proposes to purchase the business of Messrs. Two mouths since ordei-3 were sent home for a Bell Coleman Freezing Machine, capable of freezing 125 tons measurement and manufacturing two tons of ice daily. It is manifest that in a warm climate, such as ours, this process will enable the Company to carry on operations with economy and success, sis with a properly iitted-up chilling chamber, there will bo no necessity to feed a heavy stock of cattle, sheep, and poultry, as the supply can be regulated exactly by th« recjuirments of the trade ; the meat being only chilled, not frozen, will keep fu'ly forty-eight hours longer than meat killed under the most favourable conditions. It will also offer irrent facilities for storing butter, gnine, and other perishable goods ; and enable the North of New Zealand to compete successfully with any other part, of the Colonies in the manufacture of bacon, curing hams, and the l>roduetion of preserved meats. TANNEKY AND FELLMONGERY.-The latter has been carried on by Messrs. Fisher and Co. during the last twelve months, and with a view of extending the business to tanning and wooLsconriug, a dam" was erected, capable of holding balf-a-million gallons of water, and a 4-inch pipe laid a distance of l,U(»0 feet, to the first, building erected on the site ; and Mr Aickin, C.E., bns surveyed and made plans for a dam to hold three million gallons of wnter. The supply of is admitted by experts to be practically unlimited, and good judges, who have inspected the Otahuhu property, agree that great foresight and judgment have been shown in laying out the works for a large and increasing business. Mr Thomas Russell bus very kindly sent out a complete plan and specification for a Model Tannery and Felhnongery, using tramways and every appliance of the most modern construction. This will lie of immense advnntiitrc to the proposed Company, enabling them to make a large outrun of a very superior article and having the benefit of the very latest scientific improvements in its manufacture. Arrangements have been nmde with the Government to have a station on the site of the works, thus enabling the Company to carry on a large shipping and carrying business, with every facility and despatch . It is also proposed to utilise all refuse in the manufacture of a superior manure. These works have been in operation six months, and the article produced has given the greatest satisfaction. Mr "William Aitken and a Committee selected from the Provisional Directors have inspected all the freehold properties of Messrs Fisher and Co., and hnve arranged the valuations on a most satisfactory basis.
