ARATAPU.
Considering the inclement weather on Saturday week, the dance in the Aratapu Hall was well patronised. The attendance of ladies was unusually large, and gcntlemon were in great requisition, which is a circumstance of rare occurrence. The absence of "Frank 11. and the Goose" was greatly deplored by the ladies not only on account of their dancing abilities, but because of the infinite amusement they afford. Dancing was kept up until twelve
o'clock, when one and all dispersed to their respective homes, having enjoyed a very pleasant evening One or two would-be society swells perpetually hung- around the entrance to the dance room on last Saturday evening to the evident annoyance of ladies. It is a great pity that the management tolerate this sort of thing. Persons passing by the old schoolroom on Saturday evenings are oftentimes considerably startled by the peculiar sounds that emanate from within, which lead one to believe that a slaughterhouse existes in the immediate vicinity, but, for the benefit of the worthy leader and for the information of those uninitiated to such sounds, I take the liberty to state that the said place is where old P.'s tonic, sol, fa, class is held.
