We hope to see the Vivid taking her place shortly, as we hear that she draws very much less water.

Barclay and GalIwaithhave opened as auctioneers, etc., in Harringtonstreet, Taurangn. (next door to B. C. Jordan), who intends fas they have gone to town to oppose him) to come down here and open a general store in order to pay them out. Mr Moor, who has up to the present •been Messrs. B. and G.s right-hand-man, intends, it is said, starting in the same business, near Peter Grant's liotel ; so, you see. re provisions we shall be pretty well off before long. Messrs T. and B. are to hold a large sale of cattle and horses here about the middle of next month. The cattle arc coming up the Coast 'from Opotiki. Mr Jordan will also hold a cattle sale here about the same time. Raymond's contract for raising the road over the swamps through the Block is progressing favourably ; but Crawford, who has the small contract between Peter's and the Atuaroa, does not appear to be doing much. A number of ladies have been visiting the Block during the last week, mostly staying at Peter's hotel.
