MY UNCLE.
Who lives where hangs three golden halls, "Where Betsy Spriggins often calls, And pops her velveteens and shawls ? My Uncle ! Who, ■when deserted "by your friends, To shake your "flipper" condescends, And on your rings a trifle lends ? My Uncle ! Who like a statue hold doth stand Upon his doorstep smiling bland ; Who warmly takes you by the hand? My Uncle ! Who always knows what he's about, Although he's seldom seen to shout ; Who gathers in his friends to "spout"? My Uncle ! Who, when you're rather short of "tin," Will very kindly take you in, And thinks such charity no sin ? My Uncle ! Who never swears, but ever keeps His pledges piled in dusty heaps, . And still a goodly harvest reaps ? My Uncle ! Oh ! may we never case to be Affectionate and kind to thee, Thou art so very kind to we ; My Uncle ! —Frank Fudge.
