THE DRESSES AT THE CRICKET MATCH
At the Cricket Match, on Tuesday afternoon, the following costumes Avere noticeable : — —Miss B— LD AA r as one of the best dressed ladies at the cricket match on Tuesday. —Mrs. S. MORRIN Avore a very pretty creme brocaded satin, trimmed with pale cream and fringe. —Mrs. Tho ji AS Morrin appeared in a heliotrope silk, Avith creme polonaise and hat to match. —Mrs. Archibald Clarke attracted considerable attention in a pale blue Indian muslin, very pretty and effective. — Miss Ridings looked charming in a pale blue sateen, trimmed Avith pompadour, short skirt ancl habit bodice. — Mrs. ISAACS had on a greenish pompadour, trimmed Avith black satin, ancl a creme bonnet. — Mrs. Laishley avoi-c a very handsome bine sateen, covered Avith the creme lace iioav so popular. Bonnet and parasol were to match. — A young lady, Avhose name I couldn't discover, wore a Avonderful costume of Avine-col-oured silk, trimmed Avith A'elA'ct. — Another dress that excited comment consisted of rich black silk, set olf Avith bands of A'elvet and jet fringe. — Mrs. A. E. Isaacs Avore a chaste and costly pale blue satin, trimmed Avith pompadour, the bonnet being to match. It Avas altogether a, most effective "get up." — Mrs. Haines Avas as usual one of the principal belles. She Avore a Avine-coloured pompadour costume, Avith hat and parasol to match. — Mrs. Major Withers had attired herself in a suitable grey satin cloth, trimmed with pompadour, ancl witb a head-dress to correspond. — Mrs. Chambers Avore a heavy black silk, trimmed with black lace and cord and tassels. Tlie Miss Chambers had on Avhitc muslins with pompadour boots. The latter Avere very conspicuous. — The Tarn o' Shanter hats Avorn looked, in almost every case, " loud" and unsuitable. — I noticed a number of pink sateens. None of them, hoAvever, Aye re Avorth mention. — Some of the costumes Avere more eccentric than pretty. Fancy lavo ladies in pale blue Japanese silks, white cardinal lioavs (!!) and (heaven save the mark) Avhitc bats with pink roses, and creme parasols, Avith pink lining. — A young lady, usually remarkable for tbe neatness and good taste of her dresses, astonished the company by coining out robed in creme and pale blue sateen, the blue looking as if it had been pitchforked on in large patches. — Another rather comical " cet up" consisted of a navy blue jersey, " dubbed " together Avith Avhite muslin, and mucli "pouffed" behind. — Mrs. and the Misses Whitaker occupied their carriage nearly all afternoon and Avere so encased in wraps that I found it impossible to discern the nature of their dresses. 1 noticed, howeA r er, that Airs. Whitaker wore a Aery handsome creme bonnet, Avhilst one of the young ladies exhibited a pretty creme lace hat with heliotrope feather. Eva.
