„ [By Telegraph.—Press Association].

WELLINGTON, Nov. 19

.The progress of the State housing scheme was referred to by the Parliamentary Under-Seectary in charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, in an interview. He said that more than 1000 State houses had been completed during the last 18 weeks.

Houses are now in occupation in ■ about 60 towns he said, and contracts for approximately 6000 houses had been advertised since the commencement of the scheme. If building permits continued at the present monthly rate for the remainder of the year this year would be a record for building permits in New Zealand.
