THEFTS FROM CARS.
OLD MAN IN COURT. PLEA OF GUILTY ENTERED. THREE MONTHS' GAOL. [By Telegraph. —Press Association]. AUCKLAND, Oct. 1. Charged with stealing property valued at £lO4/9/6, William Knox, agod 66, a fisherman, of no fixed abode, appeared in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. Orr Walker, S.M.
The goods stolen were described on
the charge sheet as case containing four earphones and spare parts, three overcoats and four sheets, a leather case, an electric water heater, a ear cover, a handsaw, an electric torch and tin-snips.
It is alleged that the offences were committed on September 20 and 21.
Sub-Inspector Fox said that all the articles wero taken from motor-cars parked in the western area of the city.
Mr. Noble for Knox, said he was an old man who occasionally went on drinking bouts, and committed offences of the kind alleged..
Accused pleaded guilty to all the
charges
On the charge of stealing the hearing aids, he was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. On one other charge ho was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. "Ho will bo better off in prison." commented the magistrate, who convicted and discharged accused on tho remaining charges.
