BACK TO THE LAND.
NIGHT CLUB KING’S DECISION. INVENTOR OF “BOTTLE PARTY.” WANTS TO RUN PIG FARM. The “back to the land” movement, which some people are trying so hard to stimulate in England, has now reached the bright lights of Piccadilly. London’s “Night Club King” has confessed that he wants to become a farmer. He is Captain Gordon Halsey, who achieved fame as the man who invented the Mayfair “bottle party.” For 1G years his life has been night • ]ife. Now he wants to take a course !at an agricultural college and settle down in the country “running pigs” instead of clubs. I “I have been approached by a number of people who want to acquire my interests in the Old Florida Club —but I am torn between the country and London and have not decided yet,’’ ho said. i “I have 400 acres at my country place'in Oxfordshire and I should like to run pigs. I should have to learn a bit more about them, but I could go to an agricultural college. You’ve got to know in farming. It is no use guessing,” he added sagely. Captain Halsey has made and lost thousands since he entered the Wes' ■ End club business. He lost £9OOO on | the San Marco, and a case to - lish the legality of his bottle parties at the Old Florida cost about £3OOO. Several years ago Captain Halsey tried poultry farming, but decided it was “heartbreak house” and was glad to get out.
