COMING OF SPRING.
FEATURED IN FASHIONS. J. W. ARBURY’S EXHIBITION. NEW SEASON’S DISPLAY. Something of the spirit of the joy of living is imparted by the refreshing and modish Spring fashion exhibition arranged this season by J. W. Arbury’s. The sombre raiment of Winter lias been laid aside, giving place to new and colourful materials, tonings and styles. A glance at the main windows, where just one or two suggestions in navy, petunia, cyclamen and “shockin’ ” pink are featured, gives a reliable forecast of the season’s latest. There, too, are natty wool georgette coats and the shallow and peaked crown millinery to match. The new stripe effects are featured on a variety of tasteful backgrounds.
Outstanding in the dress department are the exclusive lengths in flat crepes American bembergs, slioAving in florals, floral checks, spots and stripes. Flair fashion fabrics and Summer Breeze, those materials of so many uses, are also on slioav in neAv designs The shoAvroom is replete in models in black and gold, American shantung broAvns to gold and autumn tonings. Among the materials are crepe satins, spotted marocain, spotted sheers, bemberg georgettes and Avliite sharkskins, and all are delightfully refreshing. Gulf Stream blue is prominently featured, and the outfit from this material is arresting. Dainty underAvear and niglitAvear in satin and crepe de chines, all appealing to the feminine eye, are seen in profusion.
Toilet requisites —those things Avliich go hand in hand Avith Fashion —are slioAving in an extensive variety. Furnishings include fashions in curtains ready for hanging either for bungaloAv style or larger AvindoAvs. Here again, autumn tonings are featured in cushions, carpets and other household needs.
Napery, Avhich Avould do justice to any table, Avhether it be laid in fines* crystal and silver, or for just the or dinary every-day meal, is displayed in a Avide range. A special is the rayon cloth, the quality and design of avlucli is the same as that supplied to the tea dance-room of the R.M.S. Queen Mary.
For men, there are the new Pilot shirts Avith the laminex process col lars, Chestergate hats, Argosy, suits and a Avide range of sports clothing including the neAv blue trousers and sports coats. A special feature is the outfits for the juveniles, among which are neat sports shirts and bemberg pyjamas.
