SKELETON FOUND.

WAIRAU MASSACRE LINK? BELIEVED OVER 100 YEARS OLD. THOUGHT TO BE OF NATIVE WOMAN. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] BLENHEIM, May 28. A discovery which appears to be of historical importance was made near the scene of tho Wairau Massacre at Tuamarina, when Main Highways Board workmen engaged in widening a corner below Massacre Hill unearthed the skeleton of a Maori woman. The skeleton is believed to be that of the native princess Te Ronga whoso death precipitated the massacre.

It is considered that the skeleton is between 90 and 100 years old, and tho skull bears a bullet hole which provides the theory that the remains are those of Te Ronga, the daughter of To Rauparaha, and wife of To Rangihacta, Te Rauparaha’s lieutenant.
