COMMUNITY LIGHTING.

20 MORE CONSUMERS WANTED. FOR REDUCTION IN CHARGE. CANVASS TO BE MADE. When tho question of community lighting was raised at the Thames Chamber of Commerce Council this morning, a letter from the Borough Council was read in which it was stated that a reduction in the charges would be made if 20 more consumers linked up with the scheme. Tho reduction would take effect from the installation of the twentieth light. The cost of in sallation over £3 would bo borne by the council.

Tho president, Mr. K. S. Ilethering ton, stated that ten new consumers had notified their intention to link up. At present, he said, there were too many gaps. If the requisite number of new consumers joined up it would mean a considerable saving to those on tho circuit.

In answer to a question, the president replied that the present charge for each light was £3 per annum, and the reduced charge would be £2/10/-. It was agreed that three members of the council interview businessmen regarding linking up with the scheme.
