Spud Monday.

To-day is a great day in Nelson. For years the first Monday in August has been a sort of Saint's day in that town, for it is the day devoted to planting the first potato crop. It is regarded as a semi-holiday, and some go "spud" planting on the golf courses and others go to the famous Turf Inn, also ostensibly to plant potatoes. But, nevertheless, famous Spud Monday is a Kclsonian institution known throughout the Dominion.
