AT BASIC WAGE RATE. RAILWAY SERVANTS’ COUNCIL. “ASTOUNDED AT PROVISION.” (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. “That avc express our keen disappointment Avith the basic wage as fixed by the Arbitration Court,” says a resolution carried unanimously by the executive council of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of Ncav Zealand. The resolution adds that the rates are inadequate to support a family of five, and “We are astounded that the Court, in fixing such a rate, should place the basic workers of Ncav Zealand on such a low subsistence level.”
