THIRD RACE RESULT.
WIN FOR AUCKLAND
ANOTHER CONTEST TO-DAY. (Special to “Star.”) AUCKLAND, Feb. 1. For the second morning in succession the time limit of three hours snatched victory from Aileen, Auckland’s representative in the contest for the Sanders Memorial Cup. The third race of the series started oft Bastion Point at 10.14 a.m. yesterday, and Aileen crossed the finishing line lmin. 4see. after the gun had been fired* marking the expiration ol the three-hour limit. The race was rc-sailed in the afternoon and Aileen won comfortably from Avenger (Canterbury), completing the course in 2hr. 26min. Larina (Wellington) was third, Val (Otago) fourth, and Irene (Southland) last. Only one race will be. sailed to-dav. starting late at 11.30 a.m., to enable 500 excursionists from Wellington to see the race. Canterbury, Wellington and Auckland have each won one race in that order. The cup goes to the first boat securing three wins.
