Radio Interference.
THAMES BOROUGH AREA.
COMPLAINTS BY LISTENERS
SOURCE NOT YET LOCATED. Localised interference with radio inception is at present rile in certain areas of the Thames BorougJi, and according to remarks made by a Thames radio dealer this morning, “complaints are coming in whole sale.” It appears from reports that the trouble is confined to certain areas including Ilape Road, Mt. Pleasant, Block 27, Karaka Creek and Irishtown, and is not intermittent but troublesome for the whole twentyfour hours of the day and night. In one locality the interference is so strong that to hear IYA with any enjoyment the volume has to be tpned dowu until the station can just be heard. Distant stations on the broadcast band cannot be heard by this owner, and short-wave reception is out of the question. Inquiries by a “Thames Star” representative from set owners in the central and westerly portions of the town disclose that these areas are singularly free from any disurbanees other than those associated with atmospheric conditions. It is understood that complaints have been lodged with the Post and Telegraph officials, and it is probable that the radio inspector for this district, who is stationed at Hamilton, will investigate the trouble The borough electrical engineer has also had the matter brought under his notice during the last few days, and although investigations have been made so far the source of the interference has not been located.
