Mrs. S. Miller has returned from a visit to Auckland.

Mrs. A. Beech, whose husband has been transferred from Hawera to tho Thames branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is at the Brian Boru Hotel. Miss Heather Bush spent tho week-end in Thames before proceeding to Taupiri to take up her duties as school teacher.

Miss Peggy Johnstone has returned from a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. Darling, of, Coromandel, is staying with her son, Mr. G. R. Darling, Karaka Road. Mrs. Van Asche (nee Miss Sophie Wayne), of HaAvke's Bay, was in Thames last week.

Miss Lewis, of Auckland, is the guest of her brother, Mr. J. Lewis, Karaka Road.

Mrs. B. D. Chapman is visiting Auckland.

Miss F. Yates has returned to Matamata after a visit to her parents, Terrace Street. The Misses M. and J. Mawhinney, of Ranfurly, Central Otago, and Mrs. A. E. Goodacre, of New Plymouth, are the guests of Mrs. F. B Bell, Pollen Street. Among Thames visitors who wero noticed at the Paeroa races were Mesdames Steedman, Burgess, Mc Cullough, Berry, Davies, Hunter, Hayward, Rockley, Shaw, Bongard, Newman, Conies, Taylor, Walsh, Miller and Mareeau.

At a function held in the Methodist Sunday School grounds last Saturday the ladies of the Guild took the opportunity of presenting Mrs. James with a Victorian posy and also a china cup, saucer and plate, in honour of her 90th. birthday. Mrs. Longmuir Smith and her son loft Auckland yesterday by tho Aorangi en route for India. PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL. The social held in the Masonic Hall last evening in aid of St. James' Church funds, drew a large attendance. The music was supplied by Mr. D. Fisher's orchestra. The Scotch Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Harrigan and G. Muir. The socials will be held monthly.
