Not Rateable.
SCHOOL TENNIS COURTS. SOLICITOR'S OPINION. AUCKLAND BOARD ADVISED. (By Telegraph—Press Association). AUCKLAND, March 20. The solicitor to the Auckland Edu cation Board to-day advised it that the sites of tennis courts in school grounds which have recently been assessed for rates by the City Council are not rateable. He said ho thought the local authority could not assess the lands even if it were possible to assess the tennis clubs as occupiers.
Should a magistrate, sitting as judge of the Assessment Court, decide it was his function merely to determine the rateable value, the Board might have to take other proceedings in the Supreme Court.
