WEST INDIES WIN.

M.C.C. DEFEATED.

FOURTH TEST RESULT.

(A. and N.Z. Cable).

KINGSTON, March 18.

In the fourth and deciding cricket Test, played in Jamaica, the West Indies eleven defeated England by an innings and 161 runs.

When play resumed to-day England required 250 runs to save an innings defeat, having scored 14 jvithout loss in their second innings on Saturday.

England's slender chances of forcing a draw, and saving the rubber, were dashed by Constantine and Martindale's shock tactics. The batting was feeble throughout, but after lunch it broke down completely. Constantine surprisingly forsook his express deliveries and resorted to medium-paced leg-breaks. At luncheon the score was four for 76, after which three wickets fell for 12 runs, causing Avild enthusiasm among the 5000 onlookers. The innings lasted 185 minutes, Hammond alone making a stand. Ho batted for 135 minutes.

An unsual situation arose when George Grant sprained an ankle and retired. Thus both captains were out of action. Scores: —■
