Parents’ Day.
THAMES SOUTH SCHOOL. INTEREST SHOWN IN WIRELESS. Yesterday was observed as Parents’ Day at the Thames South School, providing for those interested an opportunity of gaining an idea of the actual work carried out. Over 100 parents were present during the afternoon. Displays of folk dancing were given by every class, including the primers, and a special drill squad demonstrated the latest physical training work. Indoors, the children joined in community singing, the song leader being Mr. 11. Hollinrake, broadcasting during an educational session from IYA. The South School is now equipped with wireless, and the educational hours have been followed very closely. The set is housed in the headmaster’s room, and from it speakers in other rooms are controlled. Yesterday a resume of the music lessons was broadcast. In the class rooms the children’s handwork, drawing, painting, writing and woodwork, was on exhibition, and attracted merited attention. At the conclusion of the afternoon, the headmaster, Mr. R. G. Crawshaw, thanked those present for the interest they had shown in the school and Parents’ Day.
