OFFENCE AT NETHERTON
PLAINS MAN FINED
On Monday last, in the Magistrate’s Court at Paeroa, Walter Fisher, a Plains farmer, pleaded guilty to charges of obscene language and disorderly behaviour, the offences being committed at Netherton on March 7.
The police evidence stated that on the day in question, two Auckland travellers, Messrs Rutledge and Hammond, had stopped their car near the Netherton School, and were in the vehicle when accused approached from the direction of Paeroa. As defendant wished to negotiate the very difficult corner on to the narrow bridge near the school, it was neces-
sary for him to turn out on to the right-hand side of the road. It was hero that the other car was placed, and the occupants took no notice of his signals for them to move on. After Fisher had eventually got around the corner, he stopped his car, and, coming back, used obscene and abusivo language to them, asking what right they had to obstruct the road. Fisher, pleading guilty, said he was a married man out of work, and asked the Court to treat him as leniently as possible. On the first charge of obscene language, he was fined 40/- and costs,' and on the second, of disorderly behaviour, he was fined 20/- without costs. .
