Removed Shoes in Court. A big “gallery’’ in the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court on Friday afternoon last saw the unusual spectacle of a woman witness removing her shoe and flourishing it before the magistrate, Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M, with a finger pushed through a sizeable hole in the sole. It began when the magistrate asked the witness, who admitted her age as being 50 years if she classed herself as a young woman. It was then that she iemoved her footwear and remaiked. “If a married woman has to do that, what about the single ones. I was acting on behalf of the young women.” The incident occurred during the hearing of a charge against an unemployed leader of inciting lawlessness.
