SERIOUS CHARGES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, Dec. 7. In the Carterton Police Court yesiterday morning before two justices, a full-blooded Maori named Tau Kuriki Kopu, age? 27, commonly known as Krooki, -was charged with assaulting a young Maori girl aged 10 with intent •to commit a crime. Evidence was .given by the girl, her mother, sister, .and brother’ The girl’s mother is also .a sister of Knooki. The justices stated •they took a very serious view of the •case and sentenced him to six months’ ' hatdiiabour.
