In reference to the moratorium, Avhich expires in December, Mr Massey stated he could not at present say Avhether the moratorium would definitely cease. He mentioned that farmers had waited upon him during the last day or two, and stated that if the moratorium were liften they would be compelled to walk off their farms.
In the course of an interview, Mr Massey stated the order of reference of the Taxation Commission would be as wide as possible, but it would be confined to direct taxation. It was hoped that the commission would report in a few weeks, and a Bill Avould be brought down next session dealing with taxation.
