OBITUARY.
;AIR. T. A. DUNLOP. The sudden death at Coromandel yesterday of Mr Thomas Albert Dunlop came as a great shock to his large circle of friends throughout this town and district. The late Mr Dunlop was the second surviving son of Mrs. Dunlop, of 'Parawai, and the late Mr T. A. Dunlop, for many years County chairman. 'From information received, the late Mr. Dunlop was inspecting stock at Coromandel with Mr. Gorrie, when he remarked that he did not feel well, and got off his horse to walk. Mr. Gorrie then rode on a little way, and when he came back to Mr. Dunlop, he found he had expired. The late Air. Dunlop was born at Thames .46 years ago, and Avas educated at the Parawai School. After leaving school he Avorked at the blacksmithing and carpentery trades and later worked a! several of the mines at Thames. IVhen the Boer War broke out, Mr. Dunlop volunteered for active service, and sailed with the Ninth Contingent. After doing his share of active service he returned to Thames, resuming mining pursuits. Tie then took up a position Avitli a mining company in Sumatra, where lie spent some years. Upon returning to Thames he started in business as an auctioneer. Later on the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company took over bis business, retaining Air Dunlop as their agent and auctioneer in this district, which position lie has held for the last 16 years.
The late Mr. Dunlop, who always appeared to possess good health, was verv active and energetic, a follower of' all kiml< el sport, a lover of horses and dogs, and an excellent shot. He was a good judge of light horses, and at several agricultural shows in different parts of this district acted in the capacity of judge. He is survived by his wife, who was a .Miss Taylor, of Sydney, his mother, three si-ders and two brothers, the elder brother being Mr David Dunlop, consulting inspector of schools under the Education Board.
