LUDENDORFF.
A BOISTEROUS WELCOME. RECEIVED WITH OPEN ARMS. (Times.) LONDON, April 3. The Times’ Munich correspondent says that Ludendorff, who is standing as the Reichstag candidate on behalf of the German Freedom Party and the extreme Nationalist organisation, was boisterously welcomed at a meeting of the Officers’ Association, nominally to celebrate the birthday of Bismarck, but it was evident that all present came to congratulate Ludendorff; on his acquittal, and to prove their loyalty to their former Commander-in-Chief. The general tenor of the speeches showed that far from being discouraged the Nationalists determined to pursue the most energetic policy they ever have. They are convinced that Germany will only regain her former greatness when the militarists are reinstated as the dominant party in the Reich. Hitler, Weber and Kriebel have been taken to a fortrss at Lindsberg to undergo six months’ imprisonment. The fortress is picturesquely situated on the Bavarian uplands, and is an ideal spot to spend the summer. The prisoners are allowed to receive food and wine and other-gifts from their admirers, and are provided with plenty of literature and other comforts.
