AMUSEMENTS.

QUEEN’S THEATRE. A picture is on view at the Queen’s Theatre which indicates the supremacy of the master narrative, whatever be its length, over the story of indefinite quality which somebody or somebody’s brother wrote. “The Scarlet Car” is its title, with Herbert Rawlinson in the leading role. The story is that of a very dashing young fellow who has the habit of getting arrested thirty times in thirty days for speeding, and the most fortunate habit of seeing through “false fronts” in other people about him. The supporting cast includes Claire Adams and Edward Cecil. Episode 12 of “Perils of the Yukon,” a News, and a screamingly funny Century Comedy complete a fine evening’s entertainment. To-morrow night, Dorothy Dalton will be seen in “The Siren Call,” and Betty Compson in “Women Must Live.” THE KING’S. PICTURES AND ORCHESTRA. A large and highly delighted audience greeted a programme of unusually great length nad excellence, screened at the King’s last night, when R. D. Blackmore’s celebrated classic, “Lorna Doone,” was presented in film form. The spectacular production in question is in eight parts, and tells whati s often spoken of as the greatest love story ever written. Old England in the days of the robber barons, highroadmen and bandit knights, the tale of beautiful “Lorna Doone,” held in the stronghold of the “bloody Doones,” and all the famous incidents of the novel, are vividly depicted. On the same programme is Harold Lloyd’s screamingly funny comedy, “Number, Please?” The new King’s orchestra, which has been delighting King’s patrons through the week, rendered new operatic selections. The programme will be repeated to-night.
