PAEROA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The following are the figures 'of the Paeroa rainfall for 1920 and 1921 as registered on the Public Works Department’s guage at Paeroa: —
The highest record for any one day this year was registered in June 16, when 4.98 inches fell, half an, inch per hour falling for a duration of six hours. The total fall up to the end of September, 1920, was 36.19 inches, and for the corresponding period of this ye#r; 28.64. The total fall for the yea£ of 1920 was 41.96. The lightning on Saturday caused a good deal of uneasiness at Paerba. During the course of the thunder a house m Buchanan Street, occupied by Mr Alp, was struck by lightning with the result an iron chimney was knocked down and a number of weather boards torn off. The occupants were not injured, but as might he expected, received a great- shock. Mrs Malls also had a distressing experience at Komata as she was passing along the road, a/ tree just behind was splintered. Luckily she escaped uninjured.
