Yesterday the men on the dredge were busy overhauling and re-adjusting some of the gear. They hoped to commence dredg’ng operations to-day.
Pipes to complete the water service on the Kopu wharf have, been ordered and the work will be put in. hand as soon as they are delivered.

Recent visitors from the East Coast state that the roads are in a terrible state, and in parts are quite impassable. The recent heavy weather has made the rivers overflow their banks and the roads have suffered severely by Toeing under water,
The Nelson synod has adopted a recommendation to the General Synod that there should he fixed Primary of the ChuTch of the Province of New Zealand, centered on Wellington, and the Nelson representatives to the General Synod were constructed to support the recommendation. The spirit of good comradeship that characterised all the hands during the recent contest, has moved the 6th. Hauraki Band to -take steps to assist some of the visitors who have been under med : cal treatment since Saturday. “We could go to our homes and change,” remarked a local bandsmen, “but the visitors could not,” and that has determined the hand to raise donations so'’that the visitors may not suffer finan-' cially through their had luck.
