A COAL SUBSTITUTE.
Take„ a cake of bathbrick, set it in a pail with a full teacupful of paraffin oil. Allow the brick to soak in the paraffin oil, leaving it for several hours. The night' before is a good time to have it prepared to cook breakfast. Place the brick in the range, light it, and cook a fry over it,, boil a kettle, or a potful of potatoes.. It should burn from half-an-hour to forty minutes. The same brick may be used several times, having a fresh soaking of oil each time.
