At the meeting of the Borough Council on Thursday evening Cr. Radford drew attention to the condition of the road at the Caledonian Hill, near Mr. Benney's residence, and it was decided that the matter be attended to. Our Auckland correspondent wir"es that at the adjourned meeting of shareholders of the Thames Gas Co., Ms. Ware stated with regard to the secretary that nothing was wrong beyond irregularity. On Mr. Ware's motion the words "that Mr. White be immediately dismissed," in last week's resolution were rescinded, and "his services be dispensed with" were inserted instead. On Mr. Ware's further motion, Mr. Beamish Moriison was appointed secretary.
