Legislative Council.
THE NEW APPOINTMENTS.
A DIFFICULTY AEISEN.
(Per Press Assooiaton.)
WELLINGTON, October 16.
The Cabinet sat till past midnight considering the appointments to the Legislative Council. A difficulty, however, has arisen, the precise nature of which has not been disclosed, which prevents a final decision being arrived at. The Times states that this difficulty was with the Governor", but this, the Premier says, is not correct, and that there was no hitch in that direction.
The Cabinet meets again in the afternoon, and the appointments will then be finally decided.
It is understood that there will be no new ones.
In order to get over the difficulty of having no Minister to meet the Council to-day, the Hon. Mr. Walker resigned on Saturday, was reappointed, and will be Bworn in this morning.
It is stated that Sir G. Whitanore and the Hon. R. Oliver also intend to resign their seats.
