For Borne time past complaints have been made of the dangerous state of the road to the powder magazine at Tarariki Creek, and it is indeed a wonder that we have not a frightful catastrophe to report. This morning a cutter load of gelignite,, detonators etc., arrived and was carted to the magazine as usual. About noon a cart loaded with nearly a ton of gelignite was proceeding along the bad road from the main road to the magazine, when one of the wheels went in a hole, vith the result that the cart capsized, throwing the driver (A. Overall) and the load of gelignite all about the road. Fortunately the gelignite did not explode, otherwise there would have been several lives lost, as it was the only damage was a broken shaft Had the cart been loaded with detonators at the time, there is every chance they would have exploded anil probably caused the magazine to blow up also. The Council should at once attend to this most dangerous road.
